Bursary Fund
RCVYS was given a small sum of money by Reading Borough Council. The money came from the Transforming Youth Work Development Fund (TYWDF) and so is restricted as to what it can be used for.
We have agreed with RBC that the fund should be used to set up a training bursary so that people who work in the VCS can be supported in attending appropriate training which will allow them to work more effectively with the Children & Young People that their groups are targeting. The money is for those based in Reading or working with children or young people from the Reading area.
Requests will need to made in writing to RCVYS on the RCVYS Training Bursary Application Form. We've kept the form simple so please don't be put off. Requests will be dealt with on a first come first served basis. The application forms will be forwarded electronically to the exec committee of RCVYS for assessment.
Applications will be assessed on
value for money
direct relevance to the work of the organisation
level of benefit that the children & young people will see as a result
The aim of TYWDF money was to “build capacity within the voluntary sector” and so all applications will be judged against fulfilling this aim.
The exec committee reach a decision on each application and will advise the applicant of the decision as soon as possible. The committee may make one of the following recommendations
that the training is fully funded
that the training is partially funded (and to what level)
that the training is not funded and the reason
that more information is sought from the applicant to clarify the application
RCVYS will make available details of training available in the local area, including some free or low cost courses which all VCS organisations can access through RBC and other agencies locally. It is expected that these will be the first choice for groups looking to train volunteers but it is understood that this will not always be possible.
The fund is available for training individuals or groups of leaders/helpers within the voluntary sector.
Please contact Cath Bethell (Development Worker) before making an application to discuss your needs. It may be possible for us to help find or broker the training for you or we may know of other groups looking for the same training.
