Child Protection
In response to a number of requests from people in the writing of a suitable Child Protection Policy, the following is a summary of the information I have obtained locally.

All local issues should be refered to the the Reading Area Child Protection Committee who can provide help and support in this area.

If you have a child protection issue relating to a child in your care you should contact Reading Borough Council Social Services immediately.
They can be contacted as follows
Office hours: 0118 955 3600          Out of hours: 01344 786543

There is also a link to the NCVYS website which contains details of all the things you should consider in ensuring the safety of children & young people. These guidelines are taken from an extensive document "Keeping it Safe: A young person-centred approach to safety and child protection" produced by NCVYS. Copies can be obtained direct from NCVYS for £30 or via RCVYS. If you wish to borrow RCVYS's copy please contact Cath.

I would also recommend the NSPCC website. This is a free, online, specialised child protection resource covering material such as
the latest child protection news
virtual enquiry desk
online publication ordering
research and briefings
training courses and conferences
